I am very pleased to present my wedding preparation kit for all couples who are going to get married soon or in the mid of preparation.

A small introduction of me, I first started to prepare my wedding on August 2007 as my big day was on March 2009. As and when I had gone through my preparation, I started to compile and share my experience to guide all couples.

This blog will assist you on the information on how you can start your wedding and some resources. So-called a useful blog that compile from my research and experience to provide all informations for all brides-to-be or grooms-to-be.

As I say, all informations compile from my research and experience, you will expect some copyrights from other articles & websites.

Wedding Preparation Checklist

A useful checklist for all brides-to-be and grooms-to-be who need this checklist to guide them throughout the whole preparation.

It was purely done by me when I was doing my own wedding preparation. I find it useful so want to share with everyone.

18 months before wedding:
- Choose & Set wedding date
- Get recommendations for wedding sites and service providers
- Start attending wedding shows and scouting for locations
- Decide wedding style, venue and locations before booking venue
- Draft out budget
- Draft out guest list
- Source for photographers and videographers
- Research for bridal studio
- Start reading bridal magazines and check out bridal shops
- Purchase love nest

10 to 12 months before wedding:
- Confirm bridal studio
- Confirm and Book photographer and videographer
- Shop for wedding bands if you are having solemnisation and customary wedding on same day
- Source for ring pillow, corsages, guest signature pens, angbao box, guestbook, etc

8 months before wedding:
- Source for wedding shoes for bride & groom
- Confirm wedding apparels for pre-wedding photoshoot

6 months before wedding:
- Purchase wedding bands
- Preparation for Pre-wedding shoot
- Tentatively organise actual day program & emcee script
- Start your wedding entourage like Jie Meis, Xiong Dis & helpers
- Find emcees to host your wedding lunch/dinner
- Enquire for bridal car rental before booking

4 to 5 months before wedding:
- Start to buy ring pillow, corsages, guest signature pens, angbao box, guestbook, etc
- Selection of pre-wedding photoshoot
- Confirm wedding apparels for actual day
- Confirm emcees, "xiong dis" and "jie meis"
- Search for Justice of Peace if you intend to have solemnisation
- Book MUA for actual day
- Prepare scanning childhood photos before doing photo montage

3 months before wedding:
- Pre-wedding photoshoot album and design layout
- Order corsages, bridal bouquet and bridal car decorations
- Select wedding invitation card before sending for printing
- Collection of Wedding invitation cards
- Send sms to invite friends for wedding dinner
- Get JP and sign form
- E-filing at ROM
- Go for food-tasting and confirm menus
- Write "thank you" speech for bride and groom
- Choose thank you gifts for helpers

2 months before wedding:
- Book appointment for nail manicure/pedicure
- Email colleagues for invitation to wedding dinner
- Mail out invitation e-cards
- Confirm that out-of-town guests have receive invitation cards and settle accommodation
- Arrange an outing with "Jie Meis" & "Xiong Dis"
- Arrange transportations for wedding entourage
- Order wedding cakes for GDL
- Confirm all wedding decors, bouquet, centrepieces, etc
- Decide venue decoration and wedding favors
- Send email to PG & VG to discuss details on AD schedule
- Prepare for GDL / Betrothal Day
- Buy tea set
- Finalise all transport arrangement
- Obtain floor plan from hotel
- Selection of menus for chinese, muslim and vegetarians

1 month before wedding:
- Apply wedding leave with company
- GDL / Betrothal Day
- Check late invitation replies and finalise guest list
- Finalise guest list and start planning seating arrangement
- Collection of wedding albums, photos and table tops from bridal studio
- Terms of payments for banquet
- Arrangement for appointment to finalise details in hotel
- Confirm attendance (guaranteed and expected)
- Beverages arrangement (beer/liquor/stout)
- Duty free liquor
- Check availability in function room for solemnisation
- Audio/visual arrangement

2 weeks before wedding:
- Confirm menu, wine, wedding favors, event related issue
- Finalise headcount and seating arrangements
- Prepare credit card limit and authorisation form
- Order lunch catering
- Have final dress fitting with shoes, accessories and lingerie
- Break in wedding shoes at home so that it won't pinch on wedding day
- Program for dinner and select songs to hotel
- Duty free liquor declaration form
- Function sheet and table layout
- Confirm solemnisation venue

1 week before wedding:
- Send reminder to guests for actual wedding dinner
- Gathering for all helpers to go through schedule and assign tasks
- Pick up gown and suit
- Confirm lunch catering
- Change money for angbao and get ready for payment
- Stag night/hen party
- Obtain marriage license and certified copies

2 days before wedding:
- Confirm guaranteed attendance
- Final floor plan and table layout
- Brief parents on AD schedule and role
- Send reminders to helpers
- Give helpers schedule and table list
- Send reminder to MUA, JP, PG & VG

1 day before wedding:
- Have manicure and pedicure done
- Confirm transportation arrangement
- Bridal car collection
- Flower collection
- Pack AD stuff according to time plan
- Check and prepare angbao again
- Prepare tea set
- Have enough sleep and wait for BIG DAY!

On the day of wedding:
Let your planner to take charge of everything which includes reminding the other attendants of their duties.
