Invitation Cards
Start preparing your invitation cards once you have decided on the wedding date and venue.
Some hotels or restaurants will provide blank wedding invitation cards for a certain percentage of the number of confirmed tables as part of the banquet package. Usually, the couple will need to pay for the inserts printing.
The most popular card supplier which hotels normally use is T-Dragon.
If you are not satisfied with the invitation cards provided from the hotel, you will need to source for the cards yourself. There are another alternative suppliers which you can look for: Card Blanche & Lil Arts.
Eight weeks before the wedding... As it is a traditional to issue invitation cards at least two to four weeks in advance, you will need to select the cards six to ten weeks prior to your Chinese wedding.
You will need to: - select the cards, - find the printer for the inserts printing, - prepare the invitation text, and - proof-read the prototype before final printing.
Colours of the cards: - Invitation cards were traditionally in red but due to western influences of pink, cream, maroon, purple, magenta and others colours are becoming popular. - Colours of mourning such as black, blue and green are avoided. - Gold or silver fonts are popular choices although other colors are also used to match the card.
One fold, two fold, centre fold? - For standard single fold wedding invitation, the English wordings will be printed on the left and Chinese wordings on the right. - For cards folded two times, it is easier to distribute the vertical Chinese texts over the two smaller panels. To avoid confusion, keep the main text on one panel and have the venue and program information on another.
Chinese wedding invitation wordings are layout vertically and read from right to left.
The Chinese invitation will include: - Gregorian calendar date, - Chinese calendar date , - Names of the bride and groom, - Rank of birth in the family for the bride and groom, - Name of the parents, - Dinner venue, - Time of cocktail reception, - Time of dinner, - Contact numbers or Email address of the bride and groom, - Include wedding website, if any, - RSVP information, if this is different from English invitation, and - Table number, if available at the time of issuing invitation.
Remember to include a map of the dinner venue and other helpful information for getting there.
Dress code, if any, should also be indicated.
An RSVP response with indication for number of attendance and special meal preferences is also useful.
When collecting the printed invitation cards, remember to check for - invitation text, - envelope sizes, - insert sizes, - quantities of cards, inserts, maps and envelopeLabels: invitation

Wedding Transportation Checklist
Arranging the transportation can be one of the most nerve-wrecking and emotional of your life. It may be the most wonderful as there is a reason to do on your style or comfort. Before deciding on your mode of transportation, consider the style of your wedding, distances involved and the time of the journey.
- Check the number of trips you need for the transport. - What kind of transport is needed for your wedding enturage? - Is transport required for your guests? - Is the groom personally driving to fetch the bride? - Choose transport that's in keeping with the style of your wedding. - Arrange an appointment to see the Vehicle before booking or paying a deposit (photos and leaflets don't show marks or a scruffy interior.) - How much does the company charge? Is there a minimum charge? - Is there any insurance coverage? Get insurance if not available. - Is a standard wedding package offered? Is there a discount when booking extra vehicles? - Are the drivers/operators certified? - What is the contingency plan should your vehicle may not be available on the day? - How far in advance will you have to make your booking? - What is the company's policy on cancellation/postponement? - How much is the deposit to secure the date and the due date? - When is the balance due? - Confirm date, time and location with a written contract and reconfirm any bookings that you have made the week before the wedding. - Choose a wedding car in a colour that doesn't clash with bride's bouquet or the bridesmaid's dresses. - Buy the ribbon for the car in advance and ask for a reliable member of the bridal party to attach it. This can be fiddly to do, so practice is essential. - Coordinate the colour of the car ribbon with your flowers and/or the theme of your wedding. - Make sure you can easily enter/exit the vehicle in your dress.Labels: transport

6 Ways To Save Money On Wedding Invitations
Inviting your possible guests on your wedding day can be costly. You have to give them traditional wedding cards to inform them of the date and venue, and possibly those cards are made of elegant or high quality papers and other materials that might cost a lot. If your goal is to save money, then you should think of cost – effective alternatives to send out cards to your guests. Here are some tips.
1. Make a list of possible guests first. Invite only your closest friends and relatives so you’ll know the number of cards to make. Sometimes cards are made in excess and are thrown away.
2. No RSVP, please. Who cares about RSVP cards? Chances are they’ll just tell you in person that they will attend, so don’t include RSVP cards. This is especially true when they are your closest friends and co – workers whom you see everyday.
3. Have a friend, relative or hobbyist make DIY cards. If you know someone talented in making cards, then have her come up with a design instead of hiring a company doing that for you.
4. Print them yourself. Just use a cheap ink and your own printer. No one will notice anyway, or they won’t care too much.
5. Send them ecards. Send your relatives living far away an ecard and add an audio to it. You will save on postage stamps and won’t take too long, too. Tell them to reply early.
6. Shop on cheap materials. Go to local bookstores and see those cheap papers and laces. Compare prices of these materials before making a decision.
Think of more ways to save more money on wedding invitations by being creative and delegating tasks to the people you know. Save on other things, too, like wedding cakes, music, photography and attire. You don't have to spend a lot to make your special day a success. Labels: invitation
